As we move into 2025, goth fashion continues to evolve, blending elements of the past with fresh, avant-garde twists. Here are 5 upcoming trends in goth fashion that will dominate the scene in the year ahead:
Cyber Goth Revival
The early 2000s cyber goth look is making a huge comeback. Expect to see vibrant neon colors, chunky platform boots, and futuristic accessories paired with dark, industrial elements. LED accents and digital-inspired patterns will make this trend stand out in both club and street fashion. 3D printed masks are definitely the DIY fashion project.
Victorian Revival
Victorian-inspired gothic fashion is back in full force, with high collars, corsets, and lace detailing making their way into contemporary goth wardrobes. Rich, dark fabrics like velvet, silk, and brocade will dominate, creating a sense of timeless elegance. Expect to see modern takes on classic styles, like updated tea dresses and sharply tailored coats. I can see current movies like Nosferatu driving this trend. And yes, I can see people trying to make bonnets "a thing".

Dystopian Streetwear
Gothic streetwear is evolving, blending dark aesthetics with urban comfort. Look out for oversized jackets, baggy pants, and graphic tees featuring gothic motifs, often with a post-apocalyptic twist. Dark, muted tones, such as charcoal gray, black, and deep burgundy, will continue to reign supreme. See Rick Owens or Comme Des Garcon's 2025 collection; "Uncertain Future". One might argue that Comme Des Garcon is not streetwear, but what is more street than looking like piles of garbage on the curb? But make it fashion.

Punk-Goth Fusion
My personal favourite! Punk and goth have always shared a rebellious spirit, but in 2025, their fusion will become even more apparent. Leather jackets adorned with spikes and studs, paired with gothic staples like lace and fishnet, will emerge as the ultimate statement. This is a trend that embraces both punk’s defiance and goth's dark elegance. Pictured below is our Safety Pin necklace in sterling silver.
Sustainable Goth
As eco-consciousness grows, sustainable fashion will become more prominent in the goth subculture. Upcycled materials, vegan leather, and eco-friendly dyeing techniques will find their way into goth fashion, offering an environmentally conscious alternative while maintaining a dark, moody aesthetic. Tip: With a lot of my old t-shirts and sweaters, I love to cut holes around the neckline, almost like a spiderweb.
As we dive into 2025, goth fashion will continue to evolve while embracing its roots. These trends offer a mix of innovation and nostalgia, creating a thrilling future for dark fashion enthusiasts everywhere. Also, what we need here in Montreal is someone to put together a gothic fashion show...
